About PTI+
The subproject consists of deploying an Open Laboratory of Healthcare Robotics within the framework of the experience acquired at the IRII in order to generate technology and strategies aimed at enhancing the healthcare capacity of the health system. The generation of these robotic systems and the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning will be tested in this laboratory, taking advantage of the presence of expert researchers in cognitive robotics. The effectiveness of these systems will be evaluated, identifying the biosanitary needs to be implemented, in collaboration with the social agents involved and the companies that develop this type of healthcare tools. In a first phase, the robotic prototypes will be aimed at assisting in the daily life of patients and subjects with a certain degree of dependency in structured and realistic environments such as, for example, a typical apartment, equipped with a kitchen, a bedroom, a bathroom and a dining room. In this environment, the aim is to study algorithms for perception, planning, decision-making and learning of care tasks, such as feeding or helping to dress people with reduced mobility, as well as providing the necessary training to prevent cognitive deterioration in people elderly.
